The U.S. Border Patrol has recognized heroic actions and significant achievement through the award of medals to be worn on the dress uniform. The below medals and accompanying devices have been or are currently authorized to be worn by receipants.

NEWTON - AZRAK AWARD FOR HEROISM |
The Newton-Azrak Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Border Patrol Agent for acts of bravery or heroism. Designed and approved in 2002. First medal was awarded on August 8, 2002. |

PURPLE CROSS |
The Purple Cross Award is awarded to Border Patrol Agents seriously
wounded in the line of duty. Designed and approved in 2002. First medal was awarded on August 8, 2002. |
U.S. BORDER PATROLCHIEF'SCOMMENDATION MEDAL SET |
The U.S. Border Patrol Chief's Commendation Medal was awarded for
exceptionally meritorious achievement. Designed and approved in 2002. First medal was awarded on August 8, 2002. Only one medal was awarded before the U.S. Border Patrol became part of CBP in 2003. |

Designed and approved in 2002. Medals were produced, but none were awarded before the U.S. Border Patrol became part of CBP in 2003. |

Designed and approved in 1998. Authorized for wear by those on active duty on May 28, 1999. Was removed from authorized wear by Chief Fisher in 2012 under revised U.S. Border Patrol Uniform Policy. |
